Case Study

Bespoke Furniture factory

Bespoke Furniture factory

The client approached us to plan and install a new CCTV system at their factory and warehouse in London.

The Enquiry

A large fire caused significant damage to the bespoke furniture factory. Included in the damage was internal assets although the existing CCTV infrastructure remained almost intact. The client, however, took the decision to replace with a new CCTV system.

Following a survey of the site, JT Controls decided on the right IP CCTV solution. One of the largest factors involved with selecting the right IP CCTV system was the IT infrastructure, as this made it possible to reduce the amount of cabling required as well as labor, positively reflecting on the overall price.

The Project Aim

  • Install and program 64ch Network Video Recorder with RAID 5 data redundancy.
  • Install short distance IP PTZ day/night vision cameras.
  • Install long distance IP PTZ day/night vision camera with Auto Tracking.
  • Install IP box day vision cameras.
  • Install IP dome vari-focal day/night vision cameras.
  • Install IP dome fixed lens 2.8mm, wide angle, day/night vision cameras.
  • Installation outside of working hours.

The Project Delivery

Prior to the delivery of the project, the customer was using an analogue CCTV system that had already been through several upgrades over the years and it was also recording to three separate DVRs. Following the fire, half of the cameras were no longer in operation.

Ahead of the work commencing, the client IT team prepared Cat 6 cables using JT Controls design recommendations. All of the work was completed outside of operating hours upon the request of the customer.

The Project Outcome

In total, 44 Hikvision IP cameras were installed and linked into 4 PoE switches located across the buildings. In addition to this a RAID 5 NVR was deployed in the security control room.

In the main vehicle compound, 1 IP PTZ with auto tracking was installed and this enabled tracking of each vehicle that entered and exited the premises without any human intervention. The remaining cameras were positioned around the perimeter of the premises, in van yards and other areas beyond the fence.

In order to secure the assets stored within the warehouse as well as protect employees, internal cameras were installed.
